Gabriela Żmigrodska
Gabriela Żmigrodzka is a musician whose work naturally crosses borders — stylistic, historical, and cultural. A violinist trained in both modern and baroque performance at the Academies of Music in Gdańsk and Bydgoszcz, she combines technical refinement with a strong artistic imagination. Her path is defined not by one genre, but by the ability to create meaning wherever sound becomes story.
As a performer, Gabriela has built a career that spans concert halls, theaters, recording studios, and international tours. For twelve years, she served as the first violinist of Włodzimierz Staniewski’s legendary theatre Gardzienice, helping shape the ensemble’s musical identity and performing across Europe and the Middle East — from ancient amphitheaters in Greece to major Polish stages such as Teatr Polski in Warsaw and Teatr Wybrzeże in Gdańsk.
She is the founder and first violinist of the Golden Gate String Quartet, a group known for its versatility and collaborations with leading Polish artists across popular, jazz, electronic, and alternative music. Her touring projects include performances with Nigel Kennedy and large-scale rock productions such as Rock Meets Classic, appearing alongside Ian Gillan, Kevin Cronin, Mike Reno, and Alice Cooper. She also performs electric violin in electronic crossover projects — bringing classical performance energy to clubs, festivals, and stages in Malaysia, Iraq, and beyond.
Gabriela’s engagement with historical performance is equally central. She has performed with Collegium 1704, Batzdorfer Hofkapelle, Goldberg Baroque Ensemble, Akamus Berlin, and others. Since 2023, she has been part of the four-year international Wagner Cycles project with Dresdner Festspielorchester and Concerto Köln under Kent Nagano — an innovative re-examination of Wagner’s music through historically informed performance. This project has taken her to some of Europe’s most iconic halls, including the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, the Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg, KKL Luzern, and the Staatsoper Prague.
But Gabriela’s artistry is not limited to performing.
She is also a builder of artistic worlds.
She is the Co-Founder and Managing Director of the Nie | Romantyczni Orchestra, where she shapes the ensemble’s artistic development, organizational structure, identity, and long-term vision. Her work ensures that musicians have an environment where curiosity, excellence, and historical authenticity can flourish. In Nie | Romantyczni, Gabriela brings together her experience as performer, researcher, leader, and cultural organizer — creating a space where 19th-century Polish music is not only performed, but revived, understood, and re-imagined.
Gabriela is also the creator and president of the Konstelacje Foundation, founder of the Konstelacje Artists Agency, and a board member of the Żmigrodzkich Foundation, where she supports artistic projects, educational initiatives, and emerging musicians. Her work reflects a clear artistic philosophy: music is a living ecosystem, and great performance is possible only when artists are supported with clarity, purpose, and care.
To describe Gabriela simply as a violinist would be incomplete.
She is a curator of artistic relationships, a strategist, an enabler of talent — and a musician whose presence shapes the musical expression of the groups she leads.
She is, in the fullest sense, a complete artist.
